Post-MET Options
From the shared opinion of our group, it would seem that the best features of the MET program are that it is available for completion entirely online, and it is open to interested students worldwide. These features of the MET program have made accessibility extremely easy and have opened educational doors for those who continue to work while taking courses within the program.
Once students complete the MET program, there are various options on how to proceed should they desire to further their education. If they decide to continue their education at UBC, there are a number of additional Masters Degrees offered, as well as Doctorate Degrees, all available within the Faculty of Education. A compilation from UBC's website listing the 52 Masters Degrees and 12 Doctorate Degrees within the Faculty of Education, the list below suggests additional Masters and Doctorate degrees with ties to technology and learning.
Masters of Education in Adult Learning and Global Change (MED)
Master of Education in Higher Education (MED)
Master of Arts in Teacher Librarianship (MA)
Master of Education in Teacher Librarianship (MED)
Master of Arts in Technology Studies Education (MA)
Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy (EdD)
Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Studies (PhD)
When considering the sixty-four Master and Doctorate degrees available through UBC, it is amazing to realize how few are offered within the realm of technology - further proof to the relative "newness" of the field. A perusal of the options selected above fails to find a truly perfect compliment to the MET program. A secondary Masters Degree program with the appearance of being a logical successor to the MET, would be the Masters of Education in Teacher Librarianship, since many K-12 schools and University libraries acquire and utilize technology for use both within and outside the classroom.
In considering a UBC Doctorate Degree as a successor to the MET, the Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy would appear a logical choice, since the demands implied by 21st century learning and literacies entail the knowledge of technology within a leadership role or position.

PhD and EdD in Educational Technology Options
The University of British Columbia does not yet offer a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) or EdD (Doctor of Education) in educational technology. A web search reveals a variety of available Doctorate degree programs, however few are available fully online. Worldwide there are at least five that are delivered totally online.
