MET Market Opportunities
Reflecting on Christensen's model of disruptive innovation, we can see that in 2002 the UBC MET was a disruptive new innovation. It was a new value network that opened up a new product to non-consumers. In 2012, the market opportunities for UBC's MET are being reconsidered. Below is a diagram using the UBC venture cube that highlights, with differential shading, the current MET markets (as presented in the Prezi) and offers some possible ways of thinking about new ventures.
As you view the diagram below, consider what ventures are sustaining innovations, disruptive new innovations or low end disruptive innovations.

For the remainder of this site we explore some of the possible markets for the MET program such as the competition within the Master's domain, post-MET options for PhD and EdD degrees, job opportunities and specializations.
We challenge you to explore your thoughts and ideas about possible MET ventures through the Market Opportunities blog or the MET Specializations Discussion forum.
